Aftercare & Recovery
Your treatment in Antalya is one part of your care plan. Here is how OrbisMed coordinates your recovery from the day you fly home.
OrbisMed's role in your aftercare
OrbisMed Travel is a licensed health tourism intermediary, not a healthcare provider. Clinical aftercare — wound checks, medication adjustments, and prosthetic reviews — is performed by the contracted health facility where your treatment took place. OrbisMed coordinates communication, advocates on your behalf, and arranges complication cover options. We do not issue prescriptions or provide direct clinical care.
What we coordinate for you
Three layers of support that run from your departure day through to your definitive restoration.
Remote coordinator support
Your assigned English-speaking coordinator stays on your WhatsApp thread throughout recovery. Non-urgent questions, symptom queries (triaged to the clinical team), and second-visit scheduling all go through one contact.
Written aftercare protocol
Before you leave Antalya, the treating clinic issues written post-operative instructions. OrbisMed provides a translated summary document so nothing is lost in transit between the clinical team and your home environment.
Complication cover coordination
Optional complication cover is available for surgical treatments. If a treatment-related complication arises after you return home, OrbisMed coordinates the corrective care pathway with the contracted facility according to your coverage terms.
Recovery milestones
A general guide — your written treatment plan from the contracted clinic states the specific window that applies to your case.
- 1
Departure day
Written aftercare instructions issued by the clinic. WhatsApp thread remains active. Avoid alcohol and strenuous activity as specified in your protocol.
- 2
Days 1–7
Swelling and mild discomfort are normal for surgical cases. Your protocol will specify the expected swelling curve. Contact your coordinator if symptoms fall outside the documented range.
- 3
Weeks 2–8
Initial tissue healing. For implant cases, osseointegration continues — avoid applying pressure to the surgical site as directed. Soft diet restrictions ease progressively per your protocol.
- 4
Month 3–6
Second visit for definitive restoration (implant crowns, final bridge, or ceramic veneers). OrbisMed pre-books hotel and transfers. Lab slots are confirmed before you fly.
- 5
Ongoing
Annual hygienist appointments and periodic reviews with your home dentist or the contracted facility. Implant longevity depends on hygiene and regular monitoring.
Timelines vary by treatment type, bone condition, and healing response. The contracted clinic's written protocol overrides these general ranges.
Involving your home dentist
Your UK or EU dentist is a key part of long-term success — not a barrier to travelling for treatment.
We provide treatment records and implant batch documentation on request — your home dentist can verify brand and SKU before any follow-up.
If your home dentist flags a concern during recovery, contact your coordinator. We relay clinical queries directly to the treating team.
Annual hygienist sessions and X-rays with your regular practice are part of the long-term maintenance recommended by the contracted clinic.
We can provide a summary letter for your home dentist describing the procedures performed, materials used, and follow-up requirements.
When to contact your coordinator
Contact us first — we triage to the clinical team at the contracted facility when needed.
This list is guidance only. For severe pain, high fever, difficulty swallowing, or any symptom you consider an emergency, seek immediate medical care locally and notify your coordinator.
Swelling beyond day 3
Some swelling peaks at day 2–3 then subsides. If swelling increases after day 4 or is accompanied by increasing pain, contact your coordinator.
Prolonged bleeding
Light oozing is normal in the first 24 hours. Active bleeding beyond 24 hours should be reported to your coordinator immediately.
Fever above 38 °C
A low-grade temperature for 24 hours post-surgery can be normal. A persistent temperature above 38 °C requires clinical review — contact your coordinator.
Loose or lost restoration
If a provisional crown or temporary restoration becomes loose or dislodges, contact your coordinator. Do not attempt to reattach it yourself.
Persistent numbness
Short-term numbness from local anaesthetic is normal. Numbness persisting beyond 48–72 hours should be reported to your coordinator for clinical review.
